AC Milan have rejected the chance of signing Chelsea striker Diego Costa on a six month loan deal, according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

Rossoneri CEO Marco Fassone confirmed a meeting had taken place between him and Costa’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and it seems as though this was when the loan offer was proposed.

The 28 year old reportedly wants to re-join Atletico Madrid in January after their transfer ban is lifted but it seems Milan are not willing to take him on a temporary basis before his permanent switch back to Spain.

Costa is believed to be concerned about his World Cup chances if he spends the best part of five months on the sidelines at Chelsea, prior to his possible Atletico return. At the moment though, there doesn’t seem to be many clubs that want to foot the bill for a brief loan spell, knowing full well that the player is committed to playing for another team.
