Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk is not high on the list of priorities for Chelsea, according to Daily Telegraph journalist John Percy.

It seems the Blues’s most urgent need is at left wing back to provide competition for Marcos Alonso, and it is likely the Premier League champions will look to make another approach for Juventus defender Alex Sandro before the end of the transfer window.

The next priority seems to be Antonio Candreva. The winger predominantly plays on the right of a front three, and considering the players Chelsea have for that position, it seems surprising that Conte would see the area of the pitch as needing much improvement. The Italian obviously feels the Inter Milan winger can offer something more to the squad.

Third on the list seems to be Fernando Llorente. The Spaniard was Conte’s backup option at Juve and it seems the Blues boss wants the Swansea City player to play a similar role at Stamford Bridge.

It seems only once those deals are finalised, Chelsea will make a move for van Dijk closer to the end of August.
