Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has joined Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem on loan, according to local Portsmouth newspaper The News.
The 18 year old was born in Portsmouth and the player is believed to have agreed a season long loan spell in the Netherlands. Dutch media sources have however yet to get a formal confirmation from Vitesse.
Regional Dutch newspaper De Gelderlander have asked the Eredivisie club to verify the story but they have yet to receive a formal reply, either confirming or denying the story.
It could be that a family member of Mount, still in Portsmouth, has jumped the gun and revealed the transfer before things have been officially finalised. It certainly wouldn’t be a surprising switch.
England Under 21 international midfielder Lewis Baker had a successful spell with the Dutch side last season, and after helping to guide England Under 19s to European Championship glory earlier this month, Mount may well follow in his team mate’s footsteps by playing regular first team football next season with Vitesse.
