Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has spoken with Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti about the availability of midfielder Renato Sanches, according to the Evening Standard.
Sanches was one of the stand out performers when the Blues lost 3-2 to the Bundesliga giants in a friendly on Tuesday, and it seems the 19 year old’s display left quite an impression on Conte.
AC Milan have been trying to secure a two year loan for the Portuguese international but Bayern are only willing to allow the player to leave for a single season. They paid £31m for the midfielder last summer but he managed just nine starts in his first campaign in Germany.
Chelsea are light in the central midfield department and have very little in the way of attacking options other than Cesc Fabregas in the middle of the pitch.
Much will depend on the size of the loan fee that Bayern are demanding for the player. Milan CEO Marco Fassone says the club are struggling to agree a deal with the German side due to the onerous financial terms that Bayern want for Sanchez. We will have to wait and see whether Chelsea will agree to the Bundesliga champions’s demands.
