Chelsea manager Antonio Conte did not deny his interest in Inter Milan winger Antonio Conte but he chose his words carefully when speaking about the Italian international.

Multiple reports today suggest that the 30 year old is among four targets that the Blues will look to sign before the end of the transfer window, and when asked about the speculation, the Chelsea boss replied:

“It’s not correct to speak about the player of the other team. I know that this period is in the period of the transfer market. Candreva is Inter’s player and I have great respect for him, for his team and also for my players.”

Conte worked with Candreva with the Italian national side. The winger only made the switch to Inter from Lazio last summer for €22million, and he performed pretty well during his first season with the Nerazzurri.

In 45 appearances, he scored eight goals and provided 11 assists. The Italian predominantly plays on the right, and would likely be utilised in conjunction with Willian as potential replacements for the first choice wide players, Eden Hazard and Pedro Rodriguez. Whether he would be interested in a switch to London, it is difficult to say.

In response to the recent speculation, Candreva was fairly non-committal, stating it was “nice” to be linked with Chelsea but he was “proud” to play for Inter.
