Real Betis remain confident of sealing a loan deal for Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic, according to Estadio Deportivo.

Reports have suggested that Spartak Moscow were on the brink of signing the 22 year old but sources have told the Seville based newspaper that the Russian club are only one of the teams the Croatian international is considering.

Betis are hopeful the player will join them after he indicated a desire to return to Spain. Pasalic spent the 2014/15 season on loan at Elche, just after he signed for Chelsea from Hajduk Split. The Croatian subsequently had two further season long loan spells with Monaco and AC Milan, and has never played a competitive match for the Blues.

Pasalic’s contract runs out next summer, but Betis are hoping that Chelsea offer the midfielder a new deal for a loan to go ahead. They would also like a purchase option in the agreement so they can sign the player permanently next summer if all goes well.
