Schalke are interested in re-signing Chelsea left back Baba Rahman on a second loan spell, according to Goal.com.
The Ghanaian joined the Bundesliga side on a season long loan last summer despite only signing for Chelsea in 2015 for £22m from Augsburg. His time at the Veltins-Arena was however cut short after suffering a serious knee injury playing for Ghana at the African Cup of Nations in January.
The 23 year old had to have surgery after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and is still recovering from the operation. The Blues may make Rahman available for a loan spell in order for him to recover his form and fitness.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte currently only has one senior left wing back in Marcos Alonso, and it may be the case that the Ghanaian will be loaned out only once they have a new signing in place.
The club’s number one target is Juventus’s Alex Sandro but after letting Leonardo Bonucci leave for AC Milan, Juve will be extremely reluctant to let another key player go. The Daily Mail say that the Blues have enquired about Monaco’s Benjamin Mendy.
Manchester City have had a £44.5m bid rejected by the Ligue One champions and the Blues could try the same trick that City played with Danilo by entering a higher offer late in the game for the French international.
