Lyon are in advanced talks to sign Chelsea forward Bertrand Traore, according to L’Equipe.

The Burkina Faso international has reportedly been the subject of bids from as many as six different clubs but it seems the Ligue One side are the front runners.

The French club have stepped up their recruitment drive after losing key player Mathieu Valbuena to Fenerbahce. They have identified Traore as an important target following his spell on loan at Ajax last season.

The 21 year old helped the Dutch side to the Europa League final where they lost out to Manchester United. His 13 goals and six assists from 39 games in all competitions last season whilst playing from the right wing have attracted many admirers.

Chelsea are reportedly holding out for €20m or £17.6m and it remains to be seen whether Lyon can match the Blues’ asking price. They missed out on the Champions League by finishing fourth in Ligue One last season and could struggle to come up with the finances, unless they sell players this summer.
