Portuguese newspaper O Jogo are reporting a “large club” have submitted a bid for Porto midfielder Ruben Neves. The Portuguese Under 21 star has been linked with both Chelsea and Liverpool over the past few months.

O Jogo say they haven’t been able to find out the name of the club in question but they report that Porto are hopeful that a deal can be finalised today ahead of the transfer window opening tomorrow.

Super agent Jorge Mendes is said to be leading the negotiations for the transfer with Porto willing to let the 20 year old leave the Estadio do Dragao. The Portuguese side are looking to balance the books and are said to be keener to keep Neves’s team mate Danilo Pereira this summer who they believe is a more integral member of the first team.

Chelsea have kept Neves on their radar for a number of years, according to O Jogo, going back to when Jose Mourinho was manager, while Liverpool have someone on their coaching staff, Pep Lijnders, who has worked for Porto and coached Neves in the past.
