The agent of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has confirmed that the Italian club has received bids in excess of €50million for the Serbian Under 21 international over the past month.
Mateja Kezman, a former Chelsea player, now represents the midfielder and he told Italian website Calciomercato (quotes translated by Goal.com) that despite the sizeable bids, the player is happy to stay at Lazio for another season.
“I’ve received huge bids, over €50m in the past few weeks. As we agreed at the start of Sergej’s contract though, he’s not for sale this summer. He’s very happy at Lazio and wants to help the team fight for a place in the Champions League next season. After that, you can never 100 per cent know what will happen in life.”
Milinkovic-Savic has become one of the hottest properties in Italian football after making the switch from Belgian club Racing Genk two years ago, and he has been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool among other clubs.
Blues manager Antonio Conte still keeps a close eye on Serie A and he would likely have been impressed by Milinkovic-Savic’s performance last campaign. In 39 matches, he scored seven goals and provided ten assists as Lazio finished fifth in the league, seven points ahead of AC Milan in sixth place.
