Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos is behind both Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk and Juventus’s Leonardo Bonucci on Chelsea’s list of centre back targets this summer, according to Goal.com.
The Greece international is believed to be seeking to leave the Bundesliga side this summer after playing 41 times for the German club last campaign, but it seems that even though the Blues are monitoring the player’s situation, they are not seeking to make a bid for the 29 year old at the present time.
Arsenal are also looking at Papastathopoulos goal.com report, but it seems Chelsea’s sights are set much higher. Antonio Conte’s pursuit of Saints centre back van Dijk was given a boost last week when Liverpool took themselves out of the running for the 25 year old.
Bonucci meanwhile has spoken on the links with a switch to Stamford Bridge, telling the Italian newspaper the Corriere Dello Sport that rumours about a move to Chelsea were mere speculation.
