Chelsea have made an enquiry for Ajax centre back Jairo Riedewald, according to Transfermarketweb.

The Dutchman is valued at €15million (£13.2m) by the Eredivisie club but with the player having three years remaining on his current deal, Antonio Conte will have a battle on his hands if he wants to sign the 20 year old.

No doubt the good relations between the two clubs would help in getting a deal done. Chelsea loaned out Bertrand Traore to the Dutch side last season, and the Burkina Faso international played an integral role in helping Ajax to the Europa League final.

Riedewald is a left sided centre half, who can play at left back, and would no doubt be comfortable playing in a back three. He also has three caps for the Netherlands, all of which came in 2015 when he played left back in three Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Last season for Ajax, he was used more sparingly by manager Peter Bosz, having started 22 games in all competitions and playing 32 matches in total. Bosz even employed him as a holding midfielder on occasion which demonstrates the young Dutchman’s abilities.
