Roma’s Kostas Manolas is poised to join Zenit St Petersburg, according to both Sky in Italy and Premium Sport (via Football-Italia.net).

A €30m transfer for the Greek international has reportedly been agreed, with terms of a three year contract and €4m a season also being finalised.

Tuttomercatoweb reported in early May that scouts from Chelsea were scheduled to travel to Italy to watch the 26 year old in action for Roma against AC Milan, with a £30m bid being mooted at the time.

Since then, it seems the Blues have moved on to different targets with the Evening Standard reporting that Antonio Conte has prioritised the signings of Juventus centre back Leonardo Bonucci and Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk ahead of other players.

The news about Manolas does mean however that Chelsea will not be able to fall back on one of their other centre half targets if deals for Bonucci and van Dijk do not materialise this summer.
