Brighton & Hove Albion chief executive Paul Barber has confirmed the Seagulls are trying to sign Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham on loan.
The 19 year old is in high demand this summer after scoring 23 goals in the Championship last season with Bristol City, and Barber told local newspaper the Argus that the newly promoted Premier League outfit are one of the clubs interested in the forward.
“It is no secret he is a player of interest to us. There is a lot of competition for Tammy. He is a terrific talent and fine young player.”
In addition to Brighton, Newcastle United and Vitesse Arnhem have both reportedly registered their interest in the player. Abraham is unlikely to make a decision on his future however until after the European Under 21 Championships.
The striker is likely to line up for England against Sweden tonight in the opening game of the tournament. With the final on the 30th June, and the player set to go on holiday once England’s participation in the Championship is over, a decision on his club for next season looks set to be made sometime in July.
