Chelsea could enter the race for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti if his move to Barcelona stalls, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
Barca are the hot favourites to land the Italian international but after PSG reportedly rejected a €75m offer from the Catalan club, it seems like the Blues and Manchester United could step in to hijack the proposed transfer.
PSG are certainly looking to dig their heels in over Verratti and TMW are reporting that the French club will only sanction the player’s sale if a bid in excess of €100million is made.
No doubt Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is a big fan of his fellow Italian, but with the club looking to prioritise deals for a striker, a left back and a centre back this summer, offering a nine figure sum, for a player who plays a position well covered in the current squad, looks highly unlikely.
If Cesc Fabregas were to leave Stamford Bridge, there maybe a stronger case for it, but as it currently stands, Verratti looks like he will be either staying in Paris or playing at the Camp Nou next season.
