Chelsea have made an enquiry for Bayern Munich centre half Jerome Boateng, the Mirror reports.

With the departure of John Terry, and the expected sale of Nathan Ake to Bournemouth, Blues manager Antonio Conte is keen to increase his options at centre back with the German international entering the frame as a possible target.

The club have been linked with moves for Virgil van Dijk, Leonardo Bonucci and Roma defender Kostas Manolas in recent weeks, but attempts to land a centre half have proven difficult.

Boateng has had an injury ravaged season at the Allianz Arena, and only played 21 matches in all competitions last campaign for Bayern. Shoulder, thigh and muscle injuries have limited his game time, and the Mirror suggests that the Bundesliga champions may consider allowing the German international to leave due to his poor fitness record.

The 28 year old has been at the German club for six years after he signed from Manchester City, following an unhappy solitary campaign playing at the Etihad stadium.
