Chelsea are preparing to make a €60million (£52.75m) bid for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly according Premium Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb).

The Italian TV station say the Blues are looking to make an improved bid on the €55million they offered for the 25 year old 12 months ago. The Senegalese international only signed a new contract back in September, keeping him at the club until 2021, and it remains to be seen whether Napoli will be tempted by Chelsea’s latest attempt to sign the player.

Koulibaly signed for the Partenopei from Racing Genk for £6.5m in 2014 but his stock his risen massively during the three seasons he has spent playing in Italy; to the extent he is now one of Europe’s most in demand centre backs.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is seeking to strengthen his backline after the departure of captain John Terry with Koulibaly, Juventus’s Leonardo Bonucci and Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk all being looked at as potential recruits this summer.
