The Brazilian has, of course, been stellar defensively – but his offensive threat was always his most exciting trait, and that had been limited by Antonio Conte – until now.
Games between Liverpool and Chelsea are always high profile and of the utmost importance to Chelsea fans – and David Luiz picked the perfect time to break his duck.
The defender opened the scoring on the night with an absolute bullet of a free kick – stealing it from right under the nose from his Brazilian compatriot Willian.
Willian, of course, won’t care – as he got a front row seat for what is arguably the goal of the season so far.
Twitter erupted when the goal went in, such was the nature of the finish – with football fans around the world in awe of David Luiz’s technique and ability.
