After defeat at Tottenham in Chelsea’s last Premier League game, Antonio Conte has a few tough decisions to make ahead of a clash against Leicester City this weekend…

Chelsea will be expected to win the clash, with Antonio Conte’s men dominating the Premier League at present, but a defeat against Tottenham has surely made Conte question his choices in the time since the game.

There were a couple of pretty poor performances on the night, with several of Chelsea’s often stellar stars disappointing – and so with this game a must-win for the Blues – a few big calls could be made by the Italian boss.

Defensively, the Blues seriously struggled – whilst Tottenham aalso overran the midfield at times.

Chelsea do have the depth to be able to make a few changes, with several of the players in the Blues’ squad surely keen to get a start and impress their manager.

Whilst Chelsea have been largely consistent this year, bad performances can’t just be ignored – so the Blues’ boss must act quickly. He also needs to ensure that the players he picks are suitable for the opposition, based on how Leicester City are expected to play.

With that said, Conte simply must not start these 2 Chelsea players against Leicester City on Saturday…

 David Luiz

David Luiz has been stellar since he re-joined Chelsea, but against Tottenham – his atypical poor form reared its ugly head.

He was, arguably, at fault for both of Chelsea’s conceded goals, twice stepping out to try and confront the opposition, leaving Dele Alli free in the penalty area – and that is something that cannot be allowed.

Chelsea have a host of defenders waiting in the wings, and they would surely love to get a game. Leicester City aren’t likely to pose much of a threat offensively, and so it might be a chance for Conte to rest Luiz – who has been playing through an injury – to give him a chance to regain his form.

 Nemanja Matic

Nemanja Matic was decent against Tottenham, and so he shouldn’t be dropped based on that – but rather, he should be dropped because he isn’t needed against the Foxes.

With Riyad Mahrez away on AFCON duty, Leicester City’s offensive threat is severely reduced – and so there is no real need for 2 defensively minded central midfielders.

Cesc Fabregas has looked good in recent weeks when given a chance, and with Ranieri likely to defend against the Blues – his passes could be vital.

Matic will likely come in towards the end of the game in an effort to keep the Blues ahead, should they be leading.
