Conte should try and sell these 2 Chelsea defenders before Tuesday’s deadline

Antonio Conte probably has a lot on his mind ahead of Tuesday’s Premier League transfer deadline…

The Blues have been relatively quiet so far this month, with the departures of Oscar and John Obi Mikel the only notable deals completed by Conte so far this month.

It comes as no surprise, of course, given that the squad at Conte’s disposal has performed fantastically so far – meaning that he has had no real urgent need to upgrade his side.

What he could look to do, however, is move a few players on – and whilst Chelsea’s squad is pretty threadbare throughout, the defence has a number of players that are unlikely to get much of a game going forward.

Chelsea are embarking on a period of change at present, and Conte must ensure that he moves on any dead wood that won’t be featuring going forward.

With that said, Conte should try and sell these 2 Chelsea defenders before Tuesday’s deadline

 Branislav Ivanovic

Branislav Ivanovic has been a Chelsea regular for much of his career in London, but under Antonio Conte – he has lost his place.

The Serbian has really struggled to break past Victor Moses in the first team, with Conte’s quick wing-back style simply not suited to Ivanovic.

He has been a great servant, but simply put – his time at Stamford Bridge has come to an end. He is no longer a youngster, and he should look to spend the rest of his days at a club where he will be getting regular minutes.

Thanks for the memories Branislav.

 Todd Kane

Todd Kane is an excellent young talent, but the simple fact of the matter is that he is never going to be a regular for Chelsea.

At 23-years-old, Kane is at the age in which he should be playing for the Blues – and at this point there are still 4 or 5 players ahead of him in the pecking order.

Chelsea could maintain with loan deals, but to what end? He isn’t going to get much better, and he isn’t good enough.
