After 13-succesive wins, Chelsea were finally stopped in their tracks by Tottenham…

Despite going into the game as favourites, the Blues couldn’t cope with the form of Dele Alli – and despite a decent performance, Conte’s men slipped to a 2-0 defeat.

The players can be forgiven, of course, given their fantastic run in the Premier League as of late – but the result was disappointing nonetheless.

Whilst Antonio Conte will surely be upset with the defeat, he can at least take pride in knowing that his team fought until the end – and you can bet that the Italian will be assessing every aspect of the game ahead of the next Premier League fixture.

As with any game, certain aspects and traits can be taken and learnt from – and this fixture, more than most, will have a few key takeaways for Antonio Conte.

With that said, here are 3 things Conte learned from Chelsea’s disappointing 2-0 defeat at Tottenham…

 David Luiz

David Luiz has looked good since he rejoined Chelsea, but against Tottenham – his flaws were clear for all to see.

The Brazilian was, arguably, at fault for both of the 2 goals that Chelsea conceded, stepping out to close down attackers and leaving Cesar Azpilicueta on his own at the back.

He has been consistent thus far, but last night he was consistently bad – and that will surely worry Conte.

Luiz deserves credit for how well he has done so far, but the Brazilian must ensure that he bounces back well – and Conte will surely be keeping an eye on that.

 Competition

Conte could have been forgiven for thinking that the Premier League was an easy league, given how easy the Italian has found it to win this year – but now he will know that that’s certainly not the case.

Tottenham haven’t been very good this year, but they showed real fight and desire against the Blues – and their victory has blown the title fight wide open once again.

Conte will be on his toes going forward, as he will be well aware of the challenge that awaits him.

 Spirit

It wasn’t all bad on the night, though, and whilst the Chelsea players are undoubtedly disappointed with the result – it will no doubt please Conte that his squad did not give up on the night.

Under Mourinho, it could be argued that the Chelsea players didn’t care about the shirt, and when a game was nearing a loss – there was rarely any chance of a fightback.

This doesn’t appear to be the case under Conte, with the Blues fighting with every ounce of their spirit to try and get a result right up until the final minute.

Sure, it wasn’t enough on the night – but that fighting spirit and desire to win will certainly bode well for the rest of the season.
