Thibaut Courtois has often been a divisive figure amongst Chelsea fans…
Undoubtedly one of the Premier League’s finest goalkeepers, constant reports linking the Belgian with a move away from Stamford Bridge has made him an unpopular figure in certain circles – with many fearing that he isn’t committed to the Blues in the long-term.
It would appear as though the Belgian is firmly focused on Chelsea, at least in the short term, though, with the goalkeeper firing a firm warning towards title rivals Arsenal and Liverpool ahead of games against the 2 sides over the coming weeks.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Courtois said: “‘We wanted to win more games after the Tottenham result, and before we play Liverpool and Arsenal” – referring to Chelsea’s fine run of form following their loss to Tottenham earlier in the year.
He continued: “Now we have a big gap, hopefully we can win against them and put ourselves further away”.
Courtois is clearly focused on getting the best possible results for Chelsea, with the Belgian seemingly confident about the team’s ability to go on and claim the Premier League title at the end of the season.
In footballing terms, Courtois is – in no uncertain terms – asking Tottenham and Arsenal to ‘mind the gap’ – with the Blues firmly firing on all cylinders ahead of a few crunch fixtures over the coming weeks. Whilst Chelsea may be at the top of the Premier League, the Belgian is reaffirming the fact that the Blues are ready for the upcoming games – and they won’t be letting go of their lead.
Courtois has been a near constant for the Blues this season, having featured in every single Premier League game so far. Chelsea have been in fine form this season, and currently sit comfortably at the top of the Premier League table.
