With a number of players back in the fold, Antonio Conte needs to start working on his team selection ahead of an important clash at Stoke City…

Bournemouth proved to be a fairly easy game for the Blues, and whilst Diego Costa and N’Golo Kante were absent – the team that Antonio Conte picked did the job outstandingly well.

Opting for a false 9 in the attack, Pedro, Willian and Eden Hazard shared responsibilities as the focal point of the attack – and it worked perfectly.

Nonetheless, Conte will undoubtedly make a couple of changes ahead of the Stoke Game, particularly with a game against Tottenham in mind – and the Italian must ensure that he picks the right players for the job.

With that said, these 2 players simply must start for Chelsea against Stoke City – agreed?

Diego Costa

Diego Costa missed the game against Bournemouth on Boxing Day, and whilst the Blues’ attack looked good in his absence – there is no doubting that Chelsea would have won even more convincingly with the Spaniard leading the line.

He has been unstoppable this season, seemingly scoring every week, and the Stoke City defence will be no match for him.

The Spaniard offers aggression, determination, unstoppable strikes and a strong work ethic – and that will be vital, regardless of the opposition.

Michy Batshuayi will need to wait for his turn.

N’Golo Kante

Another player that missed the Boxing Day action through suspension, N’Golo Kante simply must come back into the Chelsea side against the Potters.

A couple of tough games are coming up, and nobody adds steel to a midfield quite like the French midfield maestro.

Kante has been, arguably, Chelsea’s most important player so far this season – and whilst the Blues will be expected to comfortably beat the Potters, a bit of midfield aggression certainly wouldn’t go amiss.

He will be vital, as he always is.
