Costa out, Chalobah in: If Conte picks this alternative 3-4-3 XI, would Chelsea still beat West Brom on Saturday?

Chelsea clash against West Brom on Sunday, in a game that the Blues will really be expected to win…

In fact, the game against West Brom represents the easiest game in a very long time for Antonio Conte, having had to face a number of top sides in recent weeks.

The Blues have beaten a host of their title challengers in recent weeks, including the likes of Man Utd, Tottenham and Man City – and West Brom pose a very different threat.

In truth, it is a game that the Blues will be expected to win, and win comfortably – so it could offer Antonio Conte an oppurtunity to switch his squad around.

He can’t keep picking the same team every week – and if you can’t change it up against West Brom, who can you change it up against?

With that said, If Conte picks this alternative 3-4-3 XI, would Chelsea still beat West Brom on Saturday?

GK – Thibaut Courtois

Even in an alternative XI, Thibaut Courtois would still play.

He is the man between the sticks for Conte for a reason, and he should never be rotated.

CB – Kurt Zouma

Kurt Zouma has been back around the Chelsea first team for a while now, but he has been spending the last few weeks getting his fitness back to 100%.

You would think that after being back in training for a month, he should be ready for a starting berth for the Blues – and this clash against West Brom offers an opportune time for that.

CB – Gary Cahill

Gary Cahill is the Chelsea captain, and he will remain in this team regardless.

CB – David Luiz

Chelsea’s lack of defensive depth means that Luiz will also be forced to keep his place, despite playing nearly every minute since his arrival.

He has proven his consistency in recent weeks, and should keep that up.

LWB – Marcos Alonso

Marcos Alonso looked poor last weekend against Man City, and needs to take his chance to prove himself once again.

He needs a good performance.

CM – Cesc Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas takes the place of Nemanja Matic in this side, and with good reason.

He looked very good last weekend, and deserves another chance.

CM – Nathaniel Chalobah

If Fabregas is the natural replacement for Matic, Chalobah is undoubtedly the natural Kante replacement in this side.

The young English midfielder has deserved a chance for weeks, and West Brom should be his time.

RWB – Cesar Azpilicueta

Victor Moses has been great in recent weeks, but Zouma’s return could give Azpilicueta a chance to stretch his legs as a wing-back.

It will be good to know if Conte can trust Azpi in this role.

LW – Eden Hazard

Of course Eden Hazard has to play.

He makes this side tick, and plays regardless.

ST – Michy Batshuayi

Michy Batshuayi hasn’t had much of a chance yet this season, and he really deserves one.

Costa can’t play every game or he will undoubtedly get an injury. Conte simply must involve Batshuayi.

RW – Willian

Pedro has been playing fantastically, but Willian deserves a chance from the start.

A goal last weekend will have done him the world of good.
