Chelsea have been going well this season, but this weekend might bring the Blues’ toughest test yet…

Victory against Tottenham last weekend was a significant moment in Chelsea’s season, but as we close in on the next round of fixtures – it is time for Antonio Conte to start thinking forwards.

This weekend’s clash might require a bit of extra thought in particular, given that the Blues are coming up against the team that will likely push them the hardest in pursuit of the Premier League title – Man City.

The Pep Guardiola-led side have been going well this season, and are breathing down Chelsea’s necks in 2nd place at present.

The game will undoubtedly be a tough one, and Antonio Conte must ensure that his team selection is absolutely perfect. He has made a habit of picking the same team week-after-week as of late – and it could be time for a change or 2.

With that said, Conte simply must start these 2 Chelsea players against Man City – agreed?

 Willian

Willian has been out of the side over the last few weeks – but now is the time to bring him back into the fold.

Both Hazard and Pedro have done well in his absence, and it would be harsh to drop either of them – but Willian offers Chelsea an extra edge defensively.

Man City are very threatening going forward, with the likes of Aguero, Navas and De Bruyne likely to be peppering Chelsea’s goal all game long.

Victor Moses has been good, but he is not a natural defender – and so Willian’s defensive focus will be absolutely vital.

Pedro is good going forward, but he lacks the defensive reliability that Willian brings to the table – and he should really sit this one out as a result.

 Nemanja Matic

We’ve been heavily critical of Matic in recent weeks, and have even called for him to be dropped by Antonio Conte – but that has changed this week.

Another fine performance against Tottenham proved that Matic deserves to play in this team – and against Man City; his role will be as important as ever.

When Matic first arrived at Chelsea, his first real game was against the Manchester giants – and he was able to keep Yaya Toure quiet all game.

A repeat performance will be necessary, with Conte likely to set up shop and defend a lead – with Matic at the centre of that process.
