Under Mourinho or Hiddink, Chelsea would often succumb in games against the likes of West Brom.

Expected to be an easy win, the Blues would struggle until the 80th minute before landing a last ditch goal – before often going on to concede an equaliser in the final moments. It felt like it happened every week.

Under Conte – there was no such fear of that happening.

The Blues dug in and toughed out what was a robust and physical contest – and they got their just rewards in the form of a Diego Costa goal.

It is that winning mentality and spirit that will see Chelsea come out the other side against lower sides, and that could be the decisive factor in their championship pursuit.
