With January fast approaching, Antonio Conte has, seemingly, already started pencilling in a few potential signings…

The Blues have been firing on all cylinders in the Premier League this season, but Conte, ever the perfectionist, seemingly wants more.

According to the Daily Mail, Conte has made PSG star Marco Verratti his top target for January – and with a bid imminent, the Blues are reportedly confident that they can get a deal done.

The move is a particularly exciting one given the focus that has been placed upon Verratti in recent years, with the young midfielder quickly emerging as one of Europe’s finest young talents.

Antonio Conte is, of course, well aware of him – given that Verratti was a part of the Italy setup when Conte was boss.

Interestingly, the Verratti link is emanating alongside reports that Oscar is set to leave the Blues for China, a move that would leave a hole in the Chelsea midfield – a hole that Verratti could fill.

With the Blues in with a chance of signing the Italian, where exactly would he fit into the Chelsea first team?

Well, with Oscar reportedly set to leave, and Marco Verratti potentially coming in – could this be Chelsea’s new-look midfield in 2017?

 LWB – Marcos Alonso

Marcos Alonso has been somewhat of a revelation at Stamford Bridge since his arrival.

In the past, left-backs like Filipe Luis have come in and had a relatively minimal impact – but there is no such issue with the young Spaniard.

Since the switch to a 3-4-3, Alonso has proven himself as one of the Premier League’s finest left-backs – and that will undoubtedly continue as the season continues.

 CM – N’Golo Kante

N’Golo Kante is the anchor in this midfield, and with the offensively-minded Verratti in the side – that will be essential.

He disappointed following his arrival, but in recent weeks he has been impressive in the heart of the Chelsea midfield.

Not limited to just defensive play, Kante’s range of passing is spectacular – and that will compliment Verratti perfectly.

 CM – Marco Verratti

Alongside Kante will be Verratti himself, who will bring so much to this midfield.

A deep-lying playmaker by trade, Verratti is, arguably, an upgrade on Cesc Fabregas – and so would take the Spaniard’s place in this team.

Though slight in frame, Verratti is near impossible to dispossess, and unlike Fabregas – he has an engine that will be vital alongside Kante.

The perfect central midfielder.

 RWB – Victor Moses

How good has Victor Moses been this season?

The young Nigerian, though a winger by trade, has been magnificent as a wing-back – and has kept Chelsea veteran Branislav Ivanovic out of the Blues’ first team for weeks.

It makes you wonder how managers like Jose Mourinho managed to ignore the Nigerian, as he has, undoubtedly, been one of Chelsea’s best players this season.

He is still learning his role on the wing – and that suggests that he is only going to get better.
