As of late, John Terry has been out of the Chelsea first team…

The 2016/17 season has, undoubtedly, been a mixed one for John Terry. On one hand, his beloved Chelsea are top of the Premier League, but on the flip side – he isn’t involved to enjoy their excellent run of form.

Antonio Conte dropped the Englishman after a poor run of results, and a recent injury has ruled him out of even more action. In his absence, Chelsea have excelled.

When you consider that Terry’s Chelsea contract expires at the end of the season, it is quickly becoming apparent that the legendary Blues skipper’s time at Chelsea is coming to an end.

Rather than buying a foreign star to replace him, however, Chelsea should look towards their youth academy – as there are a ton of young players that would be perfect.

With that said, these 2 on-loan defenders could definitely replace John Terry

Jake Clarke-Salter

Jake Clarke-Salter is one of several Chelsea youngsters plying their trade in Bristol, with the young centre-half currently playing for Bristol Rovers.

Clarke-Salter, despite being just 19-years-old, is quickly emerging as one of the Chelsea developmental system’s hottest talents – with a first team role an inevitability in the future.

He has already made 1 appearance for the Chelsea first team, in a game against Aston Villa earlier this year, but his current loan move looks to be the making of him.

His return to Chelsea could time perfectly with John Terry’s contract expiry – and he is arguably the heir-apparent to Terry in the Blues’ developmental system.

 Andreas Christensen

Andreas Christensen is probably the most talked about member of the Chelsea loan army – and with good reason.

The young Dane has been mightily impressive whilst on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach, and after 2 years with the German side – he is looking to return to Stamford Bridge next season.

He has excelled in both the Bundesliga and Champions League – and the next logical step for him is the Premier League.

Christensen has it all – and he simply must return to Chelsea next season.
