You’ve heard the rumours – now Antonio Conte needs to act on them…

If reports emerging from the Telegraph are to be believed – Chelsea midfielder Oscar looks set for a Chelsea departure, after the club accepted a mega offer from Chinese side Shanghai SIPG for the Brazilian.

£60 million is reportedly the number that has tempted Chelsea to part with Oscar – and with the January transfer window fast approaching, it would appear that his days Stamford Bridge are numbered.

Whilst £60 million is certainly a lot of money, there have been calls from some Chelsea fans to hold onto Oscar, with many referencing his incredible goals against Juventus during his early days at Chelsea as a reason to keep him – but that should not be enough to hold onto Oscar.

In truth, Chelsea should be chartering that plane to China already – and there are so many reasons why.

With that said, here are 2 reasons why Conte absolutely must sell Oscar in January

Role under Conte

Oscar’s role has diminished under Antonio Conte this season – and that looks unlikely to change going forward.

Chelsea look entrenched into the 3-4-3 formation, and that is a system that does not need a number 10 – and as a result, Oscar has no role to play in the modern day Chelsea side.

It is disappointing, as Oscar is undoubtedly a decent player – but he just doesn’t fit.

Unlike Fabregas, he has not proven his quality in the new system, and that is why, unlike Fabregas, he will likely be departing Stamford Bridge sooner, rather than later.

Price

This is a simple one – getting £60 million for Oscar would, undoubtedly, be one of the deals of the century.

The Brazilian is good – very good in fact – but is he really one of the best players in the world? Chelsea would undoubtedly have considered a move around the £30 million mark – but there is no doubting that £60 million is an offer that the Blues simply cannot refuse.

He is not a £60 million player – but Chelsea are reportedly getting £60 million for him. The deal makes sense.
