These 2 are Chelsea’s worst ever January signings – agreed?

The January transfer window is fast approaching, but Chelsea will likely take a back seat…

The Blues have been really impressive for the quarter of the season, and for the first time in years – there doesn’t appear to be any gaping holes in the Chelsea first team.

Nobody expected Chelsea to be doing this well at the start of the season – and it makes a refreshing change of pace.

The Blues have, often times, desperately needed January reinforcements – and have often had to resort to ‘panic buys’, as they quickly attempt to reassert dominance in the top flight.

There have been more than a few disappointing January signings at Chelsea in recent years – but who have been the worst?

With that said, we think that these 2 are Chelsea’s worst ever January signings – do you agree?

Juan Cuadrado

Interestingly, this signing also came at time when Chelsea did not really need to buy any players – but Jose Mourinho opted to bring Columbian attacker Juan Cuadrado to Stamford Bridge in January of 2015.

He was a pretty expensive signing, and within 6 months – he was gone.

Cuadrado did absolutely nothing in a Chelsea shirt, and often looked out of place and out of his depth.

What makes this deal worse is that Chelsea haven’t been able to sell him – and have been forced to simply loan him out until his contract expires.

A nightmare deal all round.

Fernando Torres

In truth, Fernando Torres gets a lot of undeserved flack. After all, he won so many trophies with the Blues – and that’s surely worth something, right?

Well, if Torres cost Chelsea £4m or £5m then you could bypass his flaws – but the truth is, for the amount of money that Fernando Torres cost – he is probably Chelsea’s worst signing of all time.

He never lived up to his price-tag, and eventually departed the Blues on a free.

What was Ancelotti thinking?
