Whether it be incomings or outgoings, the Blues have often seen January as a time to improve their squad – and over the years, they have landed more than a few great signings.

Of course, there have been a couple of poor moves; there always is – but over the last few years, Chelsea have had far more success in the January transfer window than they have had disappointments.

So many successes, but who can genuinely be touted as the greatest?

With that said, these 2 are our picks for Chelsea’s best ever January signings – agreed?

Gary Cahill

Gary Cahill often gets a hard time, but there is no doubting just how influential he has been since his arrival.

Whether you look at his role during Chelsea’s romp to the Premier League title in 2015, or you harp back to his incredible display in Munich during Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League win – Cahill has been at the centre of everything since his arrival.

Over the years he has formed deadly partnerships with the likes of David Luiz, John Terry and Kurt Zouma – and he has consistently impressed.

It is a testament to him that defenders have come and gone at Stamford Bridge, but he has stood the test of time.

What a signing.

Branislav Ivanovic

Branislav Ivanovic has been used as a scapegoat by Chelsea fans in recent years – but like Gary Cahill, much of it is unwarranted.

Granted, Ivanovic is no longer the player that he was 3 or 4 years ago – but that does not take anything away from how much he has achieved in a Blue shirt.

He has won everything there is to win, and you can’t forget that he is a natural centre-back. It is a testament to him that he has been able to transform himself from an outstanding centre-half into an incredible full-back.

In what could be his final campaign with the Blues, he deserves the respect of every Chelsea fan for all of his achievements.
