John Terry’s time at Stamford Bridge is up…

The Chelsea legend has had a very good run with the Blues, and after making his debut nearly 20 years ago – Terry is seemingly on his final run at Stamford Bridge.

He has been dropped out of the first team as of late, and with Conte’s men playing so well in his absence – there appears to be no way back for him.

There will, undoubtedly, be calls for Terry to continue beyond the end of the season – there always is, but Conte must stand strong and wave goodbye to the talismanic leader.

With that said, here are 3 reasons why John Terry simply must leave Chelsea at the end of the season – agreed?

 Form

Simply put – John Terry’s form does not warrant a new deal, nor in truth, does it warrant a stay of any sort with the Blues.

He has not been dropped out of the side through some sort of magical act; he has been dropped because he is not good enough.

Terry of old would have returned from injury and demanded a starting berth based on his performances; but he has not been good enough.

The time has come for Terry to move away from the club because at present – he is holding Conte back.

 Age

The most obvious answer.

Terry is now 35-years-old, and he is nearing the end of his career.

He has had an unbelievable, incredible career at Chelsea – and it would be a real shame to see that forgotten in lieu of a poor final year with the Blues.

His time is up, and his career is winding down. He should go abroad for one final payday – and come back to the Blues as a coach when his playing career is done.

 Passing the Torch

Chelsea have a wealth of young defenders waiting in the wings; and John Terry’s limited role in the Chelsea first team is holding them back.

His form and age have contributed to his downfall; but this is, undoubtedly, the biggest reason.

John Terry needs to pass the torch to youngsters like Andreas Christensen – who has proven in recent years that he is good enough to be the man in the middle of the Chelsea defence.

Thanks for the memories John, but it is time to move on.
