Frank Lampard announced yesterday that he was leaving New York City FC…

After spending the last few years over in the MLS after departing Chelsea, the veteran midfielder is seemingly on the verge of a new challenge – and that challenge simply must be at Chelsea.

Lampard is a hero around these parts, and between his record-breaking goalscoring record and the unbelievable number of trophies that he won with the club – nobody knows more about Chelsea than him.

He has become engrained in the culture of the club, and nobody had more of a role during the Blues’ most successful tenure than Super Frank.

As Lampard ponders his next move, Chelsea simply must come calling – and there are so many reasons why.

With that said, here are 3 reasons why Chelsea simply must bring back Frank Lampard – agreed?

 Experience

Chelsea are a club in transition.

Antonio Conte is overseeing a very slow rebuilding process for the Blues – and part of that has been signing young, fresh, new talent.

That is all well and good, but should Chelsea focus too much on that – then the Blues will be left without any real experience.

Frank Lampard’s signing, whether it be as a coach or a player, would offer the young Chelsea stars an insight into what it takes to be a winner – and what it means to be Chelsea.

If signed as a player, of course, he won’t be able to play every week – but he would be at the training ground every day – and that certainly counts for something.

 Influence

When many people think of Chelsea – Frank Lampard is the name they think of first.

The midfielder has become an icon at Chelsea – and you cannot underestimate how influential he would be to the Chelsea squad.

He could play a similar role to that of Didier Drogba under Mourinho in his second tenure. Whilst he might not play very much, he would prove to be very influential in the dressing room and help get the best out of Chelsea’s players.

Last season the Chelsea players were lacking passion – and Lampard would help to provide that in droves.

 Long-Term Goals

Frank Lampard recently spoke of his desire to manage Chelsea one day – and a return to Chelsea now could be the first step in that process.

The Englishman has been away from the club for several years, and he must be slowly reintroduced back at the club that he loves.

He cannot go into being the Chelsea boss right away, but he can work with Antonio Conte and learn the process.
