Diego Costa has made a fine start to the 2016/17 season, and has firmly established himself as one of Antonio Conte’s most important players.
He currently sits atop the goalscoring chart in the Premier League – and Chelsea’s success this season appears likely to fall upon his shoulders.
All this, then, would likely suggest that a new deal for Costa is a good idea – but it isn’t so cut and dry.
Costa is, admittedly, a fine player – but he comes with so many caveats that all point towards 1 thing: now is not the time for a new deal.
