Chelsea put on quite the performance on Saturday afternoon, as Antonio Conte’s men walked to a 3-0 win over reigning Premier League champions Leicester City.

Granted, Leicester have not been at the races so far this season, but Chelsea’s impressive performance has given hope of a sustained title challenge for the Blues this season.

The Blues, like Leicester City, have been up and down so far – but the dominant display indicated that change is on the horizon for Antonio Conte’s men, with the Italian boss making a number of important changes that he can take credit for.

Likewise, the victory undoubtedly gave Antonio Conte some food for thought – and ahead of a crunch clash against Man Utd; there are definitely some things that the Italian boss can take away from the game.

With that said, here are 3 things Conte learned from Chelsea’s demolition of Leicester…

Victor Moses

Victor Moses has been nothing short of a revelation at Stamford Bridge this season.

Brought back in a shock move by Antonio Conte, the Italian decided against loaning out Moses this season; and the Nigerian has duly repaid his faith with a number of impressive performances.

Leicester was his best yet, with Moses taking to his new role as wing-back like a fish to water; and offering the perfect balance of attack and defence in a team that has lacked such efficiency in recent months.

At this point, Moses is completely undroppable – and his performance against Leicester will have proven to Antonio Conte that he can be trusted; no matter the severity of the fixture.

If he had any doubts about the longevity of Moses as a wingback; they have almost certainly dissipated now.

 Youth

Chelsea finished the game with 3 youth players on the field, as Antonio Conte proved that he could be the man to see youth flourish in the Chelsea first team.

Chalobah’s incredible assist was, of course, a highlight – and he has proven to Conte that he can be play in the first team.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ola Aina’s performance were somewhat less high-profile, but they also maintained a degree of calm amongst the Chelsea first team. None of the trio looked out of place, and they proved to Antonio Conte that they could hang with the senior players – despite their respective lack of experience.

Will they start against Man Utd? Unlikely – but if Conte’s mission was to find out if they were all good enough; they duly repaid his faith.

Formation Concerns

Chelsea have long opted for a standardised back four, and Antonio Conte began in that vein during his early days at Stamford Bridge. However, after several weeks of disappointing results – Conte has now changed to utilising 2 wingbacks and 3 central defenders; and it has worked a treat.

Chelsea’s performance against Leicester was the best of the season so far, and his system has been proven to work well in the Premier League.

Man Utd will, of course, be a tough opponent; but if Conte was concerned about how well his formation would work against a top side; he got his answer against Leicester.

Keep at it, Antonio.
