Cesc Fabregas is a hot topic at Chelsea at the moment…

Out of form and out of the Chelsea first team, Cesc Fabregas is surely not enjoying life under Antonio Conte.

After a resurgence towards the end of last season, the Spaniard looked set to regain his spot in the Chelsea first team under Antonio Conte – but the Italian has continually benched him in favor of the midfield steel provided by Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante.

Following a formation change, Fabregas’ position in the squad looks very tenuous, with the midfield roles often demanding defensive stability – something that the Spaniard cannot provide.

With everyone talking about Cesc Fabregas at the minute, we thought it might be interesting to look back at his past, and focus in particular on a few things that Chelsea might not want you to know about the Spanish maestro.

With that said, here are 3 things Chelsea want you to forget about Cesc Fabregas…

Arsenal History

This is pretty general knowledge, but Chelsea have been consistent in their refusal to acknowledge that Fabregas came through the Arsenal youth system – and actually made his names with the Gunners.

Fabregas had a number of high-profile clashes with the Blues, and was often in the heart of the action as the Blues and the Gunners fought for supremacy in the Premier League.

What’s more, the Spaniard was actually Arsenal’s captain – making the connection even worse.

Whilst he does a good job of hiding it, Fabregas is almost certainly an Arsenal man – and Chelsea would almost certainly want you to forget that.

 Involvement in Mourinho’s Sacking

There are two parts to this point.

The first, Fabregas has come out to publicly deny – but rumours often have some basis in reality; and the truth on this one is still yet to come out.

Fabregas, as per the Secret Footballer (via BBC Sport), reportedly played a fairly big role behind the scenes as the Chelsea players revolted against Jose Mourinho’s style of management – and that would suggest that the manager that is so beloved by the Chelsea faithful was fired due, in part, to Cesc Fabregas.

Again – this one is difficult to prove, but it has no doubt tainted Fabregas’ relationship with the Chelsea fans.

What is more difficult to deny is that during the pinnacle of Mourinho’s troubles at Chelsea – Fabregas was nowhere to be seen. The Spaniard had a huge dip in form stretching through the entirety of Mourinho’s final few months in charge – and that played a very big role in Chelsea’s poor form.

After all, in the season before, Fabregas was a key reason as to why the Blues were so dominant.

Whether the reports surrounding his proposed revolt remain inconclusive; his poor form certainly is not.

 Arsenal Was His First Choice

This one is a little bit less difficult to deny, though you can understand it somewhat.

According to Arsene Wenger, when Fabregas came back to the Premier League – Arsenal was his first choice, not Chelsea.

It was reportedly, simply due to the fact that Wenger did not want the Spaniard that he made the decision to come to Chelsea.

Simply put, Chelsea would no doubt want you to forget that, if Fabregas had his way – he would be playing for Arsenal right now.
