3 Chelsea players that are seriously overrated – do you agree?

Chelsea have a crop of players that could challenge any side in the world…

The Blues have been shrewd in the transfer market in recent years, and have brought in some of Europe’s brightest talents – including players like Diego Costa and Eden Hazard.

However, for every Hazard there are more than a few Winston Bogarde’s – and right now Chelsea have far too many players that are not good enough.

Players have come to the Blues with their name in lights, and on the pitch it just hasn’t happened for them. Granted, many of them are recent signings or young players, so there is still time – but at a club like Chelsea, you need to make an instant impact.

With the January transfer window set to open in a couple of months, Antonio Conte will no doubt be looking to improve his side – and a few players just might not make the cut.

With that said, these 3 Chelsea players that are seriously overrated – do you agree?

Thibaut Courtois

During his spell at Atletico Madrid, Courtois was touted as one of the best young goalkeepers in world – and at that point, it was difficult to disagree. The Belgian became a central figure at the club, and played a huge role as Diego Simeone led the Spanish giants into a period of sustained success.

But since his return to Chelsea, it just hasn’t really happened for him. He doesn’t appear to have improved, and he was at fault for a number of fairly obvious mistakes last season.

He is still young, so there is still potential there. But at the moment, is he one of the world’s best goalkeepers, as he is so often described? Absolutely not.

 Pedro

As a player, Pedro has won everything. The Spaniard played a key role as Barcelona dominated domestically and continentally, and upon his arrival at Chelsea, he was expected to dominate the Premier League.

However, it has never really happened for the Spaniard. The league just does not suit him, and he hasn’t been able to get into the Chelsea first team ahead of the likes of Eden Hazard or Willian.

If you’re playing alongside Messi and Iniesta, anyone can look good – and as of yet, Chelsea haven’t found their Messi. Pedro looks bang average in a Chelsea shirt.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

This one will definitely irk a few Chelsea fans, but as of yet – Ruben Loftus-Cheek has done nothing to warrant his wonderkid status.

At youth level he looked impressive, but it would be very tough to describe him as the standout player from the latest crop of Chelsea youth teams. He has made absolutely no impact in the Blues first team as of yet, whilst other Chelsea stars are making huge impacts at their respective loan clubs.

Granted, at just 20, the time could still come for Loftus-Cheek – but he needs to do a lot more to convince anyone that he’s going to be a great player. A player like Marcus Rashford at Man Utd is making an impact and looks like a star; Loftus-Cheek is not.
