Chelsea are flying high in the Premier League after an impressive turnaround in fortunes in recent weeks…

A minor blip against West Ham in the EFL Cup aside, Chelsea are a team that is definitely on the up.

Antonio Conte has shifted to a 3 man defence, and it would appear to have worked wonders. Chelsea’s faltering defence appears to have improved, whilst Diego Costa and Eden Hazard are proving deadly in front of goal.

This weekend represents a very significant challenge against Southampton, in a game that Chelsea will be expected to win.

Antonio Conte must ensure that the Blues’ heads don’t drop after the defeat at West Ham in the week – and so a win is absolutely essential.

With that said, this 3-4-3 Chelsea XI will definitely beat Southampton on Sunday…

 GK – Thibaut Courtois

Asmir Begovic will return to the bench against Southampton, despite a decent performance in mid-week.

Courtois is Chelsea undisputed number 1 – and will start.

 CB – Cesar Azpilicueta

Azpilicueta has really impressed in the centre in recent weeks, and he will no doubt contribute another fine performance.

 CB – Gary Cahill

An impressive return to form continued against Man Utd last week – and he deserves credit for his turnaround.

He will captain the side.

 CB – David Luiz

David Luiz has been absolutely fantastic since his return to Stamford Bridge, and alongside Cahill – he has become a real leader.

Keep it up, David.

 RWB – Victor Moses

Victor Moses continued his fine run of form against Man Utd last weekend, and he has really made the right wing-back spot his own.

He is undroppable, at this point.

 DM – Nemanja Matic

Nemanja Matic is continuing his fine run of form, and he is building quite the partnership with N’Golo Kante in the middle of the park.

Strong, technical and defensive – the perfect defensive midfielder.

 DM – N’Golo Kante

Coming off of the back of two stellar performances against Man Utd and Leicester City – nobody is doubting N’Golo Kante now.

He is the perfect midfielder.  He will play.

 LWB – Marcos Alonso

Despite a slow start to life in London, Marcos Alonso has really impressed in recent weeks.

Sunday’s clash against Man Utd was his best game yet – and he will look to continue his fine form.

 LW – Eden Hazard

An excellent goal against Man Utd last weekend capped off a few pretty good weeks for the Belgian, who finally looks to be getting his swagger back.

Another goal would be nice!

 ST – Diego Costa

Diego Costa is, at this point, completely undroppable.

He is practically scoring whenever he plays, and whilst he did not bag a goal against Man Utd last weekend – his contribution was fantastic.

 RW – Willian

It is harsh to drop Pedro, especially after a goal last weekend – but Willian must play when he is available.

He was Chelsea’s talisman last season, and he finally looks to be getting back to his best.
