Michy Batshuayi appears set for a Chelsea stay, despite suggestions that he could be ready for a January departure.

Michy Batshuayi has not enjoyed the best start to life in England, and has yet to make his first start in the Premier League for the Blues.

Diego Costa has started the season on fire, having already bagged 6 goals – meaning that Batshuayi has been forced to take a back seat thus far.

As is often the case, this has led to a swirl of rumours linking the Belgian with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with AC Milan reportedly keen on his signature.

However, an insider, as per The Sun, has revealed that Batshuayi will remain at Chelsea this season.

They said: “He [Batshuayi] is a competitor and he will fight for his place while learning under a great coach like Antonio Conte”.

They added: “Michy knows the project he signed up for and is happy with it, he feels the love and fantastic support of the Chelsea fans”

The rumour mill will, of course, continue to turn – but this appears quite conclusive. Michy seems convinced on a Chelsea stay – and a lack of game time isn’t going to disrupt his plans.

Diego Costa is prone to suspension and injury, and so it is inevitable that he will miss games eventually. When he gets his chance, Batshuayi must step up and perform – and Costa could struggle to get back into the first team as a result.
