From the ecstasy of winning the title under Jose Mourinho in 2015 to the debacle that followed it last season, it’s fair to say that Chelsea have been finding ups and downs easy to come by over the past few seasons.

After the steady hand of Guus Hiddink settled the club down in the short term, things looks set to get dramatic once again with the arrival of Antonio Conte as manager.

The Premier League season is only two games old, but it’s already abundantly clear that the Italian tactician will be as entertaining on the sidelines as the play will be on the pitch.

It might be his first season in England, and he might be learning in every department about life in this country, but there’s reason to be optimistic at Stamford Bridge right now.

Perhaps expectations need to be tempered, and Chelsea fans will probably be happy with a top four spot and a good showing in the domestic cup competitions, but given Leicester’s fairytale last season, there really is no reason why Chelsea can’t push on for the title this year.
