Valencia midfielder and reported Chelsea target Andre Gomes has played down speculation linking him with a summer switch to Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of La Liga’s hottest properties following a successful breakthrough season at the Mestalla, with the club valuing him at around £36 million.

Gomes and manager Jose Mourinho share the same agent, Jorge Mendes, and it was reported that the West Londoners were ready to bid £26m to secure him ahead of Manchester United.

However, the Portugal international, who has earned four caps for his country, insists that he is planning to stay with the Spanish giants beyond this season.

He told reporters: “I’m not worried about what the future holds. I am convinced that I will stay in Valencia because I am very happy here.

“I just think about spending the next season in Spain. Chelsea? I do not know anything and also my agent is not aware of any opportunity.”
