Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has played down speculation linking star midfielder Eden Hazard with a move to European champions Real Madrid.
The Belgian is enjoying his best season in West London and is odds-on favourite to scoop the PFA Player of the Year award as the Blues sit on the brink of Premier League glory.
Consequently, speculation is rife that the 24-year-old has alerted Real, with Zinedine Zidane – who manages the Blancos’ B team – fuelling rumours by admitting his affection for Hazard earlier in the week.
However, Mourinho says that Hazard, who inked a five-and-a-half year contract extension until 2021 in February, is more than happy to stay at Stamford Bridge.
“We just signed a new contract with him [until 2021],” he told reporters. “We didn’t put a gun to his head. I don’t think he’s interested in going.”
