Chelsea schemer Eden Hazard has revealed how flattered he is to be compared with the iconic Zinedine Zidane.
The Belgian has arguably produced his finest football for the Blues in a season that has already delivered a League Cup, with a Premier League title surely on the way.
With 12 goals and seven assists, the 24-year-old’s contribution this season has been unwavering and Hazard has been tipped to pick up the end-of-season individual awards.
His manager at international level Marc Wilmots recently likened him to the legendary Frenchman, a comparison which thrills the winger.
“It’s a really nice thing to hear because everyone knows Zidane was my role model; we play a different style, but if I can compare to him then it is a great honour for me,” he told the club’s official website.
“I watched him so much when I was younger, almost every game I could. He is my favourite player, for sure.”
