Chelsea legend: Blues ‘unbalanced’ with Hazard

Former Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot has suggested that the Blues are a more formidable attacking team WITHOUT Eden Hazard in the side.

The Belgian has arguably been the club’s strongest player this season as Jose Mourinho’s side close in on the Premier League title, having already won the League Cup last month.

Hazard is also among the favourites to land the end-of-season individual awards and, while Melchiot admits he is a fan, the former left-back believes that the 24-year-old’s inclusion leaves the team ‘unbalanced’.

“Going forward it’s all about Hazard,” he told The Mirror.

“That’s why sometimes they miss a little bit of balance because they also need someone on the right who can create as much difficulty and problems for the opposition as Hazard does on the left.

“I am a big fan of Hazard. Whenever I watch Chelsea play I always feel when he gets on the ball they really start clicking.”

Hazard has arguably been Chelsea’s most consistent attack-minded player this season, too, with the likes of Oscar, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa labouring in recent weeks.

What say you? Should Eden win Player of the Year?
