Nemanja Matic has won the hearts of Chelsea fans this season for his robust defensive midfield displays, but the Serbian offered a glimpse into his technical quality with a superb goal versus Portugal tonight.
Matic cancelled out Ricardo Carvalho’s 10th-minute opener with a sublime overhead kick shortly after the hour mark that left goalkeeper Rui Patricio with no chance in this evening’s Eur0 2016 qualifier.
Although Fabio Coentrao snatched all three points for the hosts to seal a 2-1 win, perhaps the game will be remembered for Matic’s moment of brilliance.
