Kurt Zouma has said that he is happy to play wherever manager Jose Mourinho tells him to providing it benefits the team.

With Nemanja Matic and Jon Obi Mikel unavailable, the centre-back was forced to plug gaps in an familiar defensive midfield role for the League Cup final victory over Spurs earlier this month.

However, the 20-year-old did not look out of place as he expertly shielded the Blues’ defence throughout, winning praise for his versaility.

And Zouma, a £12 million signing from St Etienne last January, says that he has no problem at being asked to operate in unfamiliar positions.

“At first it was a bit difficult,” he told The Express. “But after that I found my rhythm so it was really good for me and a great feeling because I played a final at Wembley. I think everybody here can play everywhere.

“If the manager wants you to play in another position, you have to be ready and say ‘Okay’ because we have some big games, you know, and the most important thing is to help the team.”
