Jose Mourinho is optimistic that his wounded Chelsea side will bounce back from the disappointment of exiting the Champions League to win the Premier League this season.

The Blues’ hopes of reaching the quarter-finals suffered a fatal blow on Wednesday as 10-man Paris Saint-Germain battled to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge, eliminating Mourinho’s side on away goals.

Chelsea, who sit five points clear of second-placed Manchester City with a game in hand, host Southampton on Sunday as they look to get back to winning ways.

And Jose remains confident that his charges will put their hurt to one side and focus on edging out City in the title race.

“We have 11 matches to play in the Premier League. We want to be champions, to win the Premier League, but also to be back in the Champions League, to be head of group,” he told reporters.

“We cannot promise that win every game, we cannot promise that we win the Premier League, but we are optimistic. You have to be optimistic to succeed. Be optimistic. Believe in yourself.”
