Chelsea must not let the disappointment of crashing out of the Champions League derail their Premier League title bid, according to former Blues goalkeeper Mark Bosnich.

The west Londoners succumbed to a last-16 exit last night as 10-man Paris Saint-Germain battled to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge, eliminating Jose Mourinho’s side on the away goals rule.

Despite their woes on the continent, Chelsea remain on course for a league title as they sit five points clear of second-placed Manchester City with a game in hand.

And Bosnich urges his former side to release a “statement” in the form of beating Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

“When you suffer such a disappointment, in whatever competition, it is so important to bounce back in your next game,” the Aussie, who spent two years at Stamford Bridge, told talkSPORT.

“It is a very fine line between success and failure.

“There will be a few players feeling sore and mentally a bit tired because they went out to PSG so they have to go out and make a statement to the fans and to the Premier League.”
