Chelsea are weighing up a club-record £71 million summer move for out-of-form Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, according to reports.
Without a goal or an assist in eight matches, the Welshman has fallen foul of the Bernabeu faithful in recent months as he struggles to justify his world-record £85m move from Spurs in 2013.
It is also understood that the 25-year-old winger is something of a loner in the Spanish capital, having seemingly become reluctant to integrate with his team-mates, prompting speculation of a move away.
Manchester United have been regularly linked with a mega-money move but, according to The Daily Mail, Jose Mourinho is among the interested parties and would sanction his £300,000-a-week salary.
Bale, who has also been linked with Manchester City, is said to be keen on proving himself with the European champions, though a big offer could tempt him back to England.
