Chelsea have contacted Fluminense over signing Brazilian wonderkid Kenedy, according to one of his representatives.

The 19-year-old striker has emerged as one of South America’s leading prospects and is expected to spark a bidding war this summer.

Manchester United are thought to have already tabled a £5.7 million bid, though Fluminense want £9.2 million.

Eduardo Valdes, his representative, now reveals that Jose Mourinho has joined the race and “an approach” was made through the starlet’s agent Deco, who spent two years at Stamford Bridge.

“There was contact with Chelsea recently,’ said Valdes. “It was through Deco, who is now his agent.

“It was an approach, not a formal offer though. Half of Europe is following him.”
